La traviata
A new production from Opera Australia's Oz Opera.
Oz Opera returns with a stunning new production of one of the world's favourite operas.
09 Sep – 11 Sep
When Paris’ most famous courtesan, Violetta Valery, meets country boy Alfredo Germont she is plunged into an eternal choice between freedom and love. Director Rachel McDonald vividly portrays Valery's struggle against the gilded cage of 1890s Paris and the constraints of money, society and mortality. This production is everything opera should be - extravagant, passionate, and intrinsically dramatic. Full of heart-melting duets, powerful arias and rousing choruses, this magnificent production will steal your heart.
Sung in English. Performed with a chamber orchestra.
